+ Adult Classes

We have a large body of adult recreational students. Some adults may have danced as kids, and some are total beginners who may have always dreamed of dancing as kids! The main focus of our adult classes is enjoyment and exercise. The instructor starts off slow and then challenges individuals based on their background and what they want to get out of the class. Adult dance classes are offered in Hip Hop, Tap (including freestyle and Irish Step), Jazz, and Ballet. Our Adult classes are offered in 12 week sessions with the first one beginning the last week of September.

+ Boys Can Dance Too!

Thanks to TV shows like "So You Think You Can Dance", and Popular Music Videos and Performers, there are finally TONS of boys wanting to learn to dance! In 2004 we began by offering a Breakin'' class and in 2007 we added a beginner dance class for ''Boys only''. Through the use of creative concepts, musicality, and the development of athletic locomotive skills, boys finally have the opportunity to enjoy dance and have fun too. We have now expanded our boys program to include Street Funk/Breakin'' (ages 4-12), & Breakin''(age 8+). Of course, we always welcome boys into any of our regular classes too.

+ Combination Classes

Combination classes are available to younger students (up to age 13) to broaden their exposure to different styles of dance. Students in a ballet/tap/jazz combo class experience a little bit of everything all in one afternoon of dancing fun!

+ Examination Program

In Examination classes at Connie Parsons School of Dance we teach a progressive set of skills set by international governing bodies including the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and The Cecchetti Society of Canada (CSC). These classes are strict and disciplined and available in ballet, tap, and/or modern. The examination program at CPSOD is open to ALL students able to participate at the appropriate level. Placement is at the discretion of the school. It is recommended that factors such as physical ability, focus to learn, desire to dance and dedication to succeed, all be considered in making the decision to join exam program. Once a child has mastered a particular level we enter them to be examined by and external examiner. Entrance to the exam is left to the discretion of the teacher and it may take an individual child or a group more than one year to complete each level. Involvement in exam classes will accelerate your progress. Exam classes are very important & beneficial, and highly recommended as well.

+ Intensive Dance Division

The CPSOD Intensive Dance Division is designed for students with prior dance training who are enrolled in several classes a week (Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Pointe, Examination classes) to train together with like-minded friends who are striving to achieve similar goals in dance. Each of the five different levels (beginning at age 8) will be determined by individual ability, age, and experience of the student. This new program is designed to allow true dance enthusiasts the opportunity to reach a higher level of excellence than that of the recreational student. Through a combination of regular weekly classes with CPSOD teachers, dance workshops, outside performances, and travel opportunities, we will provide a more complete training experience and foster a devotion to dance that will result in visible, exceptional progress. The CPSOD Intensive Dance Division promises to maximize each students'' potential.

+ Recreational Program

Our recreational program includes classes in all styles of dance. Classes begin with our parent-and-tots at age 18 months and continue with our 3 year old pre-ballet all the way up to teen and experienced dancers. Class curriculum incorporates both the progression of technical skills and the creativity of the teacher. Our students aged 12 and under have the option to take combination classes in multiple dance disciplines in order to gain a greater exposure to different styles of dance. At CPSOD we teach a love of dance, ensuring artistic and technical development of skills is done in a fun learning atmosphere. Examination classes are available to qualified recreational students. Once children reach age 8 they have the option to continue with recreational classes or join our Intensive Dance Division Program. Dance training at any level enhances creative skills, music appreciation, co-ordination, posture, and overall physical and psychological development. Learning to dance and perform builds a self-confidence which will last a lifetime.
