Adult Classes
We have a large body of adult recreational students. Some adults may have danced as kids, and some are total beginners who may have always dreamed of dancing as kids! The main focus of our adult classes is enjoyment and exercise. Adult dance classes are offered in Hip Hop, Tap (including freestyle and Irish Step), Beg.Ballet, Latin Jazz, & Ballroom and Latin Social Dance for couples. We also offer a Pilates based bodyconditioning program with classes 5 times per week. Our Adult classes run for blocks of 12 weeks and the first term begins Sept. 23, 2007 |
Boys Can Dance Too!
There is a beginner dance class for ''Boys only'' ages 3-5 years. Through the use of creative concepts, musicality, and the development of athletic locomotive skills, boys have the opportunity to enjoy dance and have fun too.
For our 2008-2009 Dance Season we have expanded our ''Boys only'' program to include Tap for ages 5-8 and Street Funk for ages 6-9, Breaking for ages 9 and up, HIP HOP for Teen Boys, and Co-Ed for young couples. Of course, we always welcome boys into any of our regular classes too. |
Combination Classes
Combination classes are available to younger students (up to age 12) to broaden their exposure to different styles of dance. Students in a ballet/tap/jazz combo class expereince a little bit of everything all in one afternoon of dancing fun!

Examination Program
The examination program at CPSOD is open to ALL students able to participate at the appropriate level. Placement is at the discretion of the school. It is recommended that factors such as physical ability, focus to learn, desire to dance and dedication to succeed, all be considered in making the decision to join exam classes. The program provides students the opportunity to train more intesively and helps nurture and develop a dancer to a much higher technical level. It is an excellent way to improve skills at an accellerated pace. The syllabus work is governed by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (London, England) and the Cecchetti Society of Canada (Ballet). Exams are generally held April-May and the results are determined by an international examiner. These examinations often give students a great sense of achievement, however, entrance to the exam is at the discretion of the teacher. Not all exam class students will be entered for the exam. Only those who we feel are ready will be permitted to take the test.

Pilates Program
At CPSOD we offer a Pilates based bodyconditioning program structured around the matwork of Stott Pilates. We have developed our program with the mature woman in mind, focusing on toning up and improving core strentgh, flexibilty and natural alignment. Pilates helps tone and elongate muscles without building bulk. If you are interested in improving your posture and feeling fit, then this total body workout is for you. Classes are offered 5 times per week, including morning and evening classes. |
Recreational Program
Our general recreational program includes all of our freestyle classes in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, latin jazz, and breakdancing. Class curriculum incorporates both the progression of technical skills and the creativity of the teacher. Students enroll by age and experience/ability. Our goal is to ensure that every student feels confident about their dancing and has lots of fun in their classes. Students are encouraged to express themselves, to gain confidence, and to develop an inner discipline that will stay with them throughout their lives. |
