Pre-Ballet (3-5 years)
A great introduction to dance! This class incorporates music and creative movement, which leads children naturally into the study of ballet and other dance forms. Through the use of action songs and imaginative ideas, children learn a foundation of basic dance skills.

Ballet
The structure and discipline of ballet class allow students to develop balance, poise, flexibility and strength, which are necessary for all dance forms.

Pointe
An extension in the training of ballet for the more developed and experienced student with the physical capability and strength required to support the body in pointe shoes. Pointe is an additional class for students already enrolled in regular ballet classes. (by selection only)

Jazz
A high energy class which starts with a warm-up and is filled with kicks, turns and challenging combinations of steps. Using the latest popular music as well as some classic pop songs and contemporary music, jazz promotes fitness with a focus on fun. Jazz develops flexibility and co-ordination of total body movement.

Tap
Tap classes are terrific for developing co-ordination and rhythm combined with style. Our classes include Irish step, freestyle tap, and ISTD syllabus work. We use a variety of music and tempos to teach intricate footwork, developing a sense of timing in a fun way.

Hip Hop
Hip Hop is the latest craze in dance and music. Using the latest popular music and grooves, Hip Hop has tons of attitude. Get funky and have fun!

Modern
Modern is an expressive dance form that incorporates elements of ballet, jazz and contemporary dance and uses a wide variety of music styles. It is sometimes lyrical, sometimes percusive, sometimes interpretive, but always creative. Modern provides an excellent technical base and allows students to acquire a keen sense of body awareness as they develop posture, alignment and strength.

Street Funk/Breakin'
Break it down at CPSOD! Breakdancing originated in the early 1980's and has experienced a new found revival in the past couple of years. Influenced by the moves developed on the streets of New York, breaking requires strength, agility and attitude. Learn the basics and have fun developing your own sense of street style.

Pilates
Pilates at CPSOD is structured around the mat work of Stott Pilates. Our program focuses on toning up and improving core strength, increasing flexibility and developing healthy natural alignment. Pilates helps tone and elongate muscles without building bulk.

Social (Ballroom/Latin)Dance
These classes are for couples who want to get up and dance at their next social function! We incorporate a variety of popular social dances including Jive, Cha Cha, Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, etc. A combination or Single dance class is available. These classes are taught in a relaxed social atmosphere.

Boys Only Dance (3-5 yrs)
It's about time little boys got in on all the fun! Beginning Fall 2007, this program promises to combine basic dance skills with natural locomotive development, musical movement/appreciation and athletic concepts. From the Hokey Pokey and Nutcracker March, to some basic breakdancing and Hip Hop, this class will be tons of fun for the boys!

Burlesque
Burlesque is fun and flirtaious but always tasteful! Express yourself and gain new confidence as you learn to perform in character. Burlesque is an adult class for 18+, however 16+ is considered with parental permission. Burlesque dancing dates back to the 1800's but our updated version makes for a really fun class.
